Shock as lamp-post hits house
Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), July 24, 2006
A two-vehicle crash gave a householder an unusual wake-up call - a lamp-post on his roof.
The lamp-post fell after a collision between two cars at Ainley Top at about 7am on Saturday morning.
A Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old Newsome woman went round Ainley Top roundabout and she had just started to go along Halifax Road.
The car then veered and mounted the kerb before striking the lamp-post.
A Fiat Scudo van driven by a 39-year-old Elland man and which had been behind the Honda went into the rear of the car.
The force of the impact toppled the damaged lamp-post, which fell on to a bungalow, damaging the roof.
No-one in the bungalow was injured.
The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries.
