Producer dies

VETERAN TV producer Verity Lambert (above) has died, the BBC said. She was 71. Lambert was the first producer of Doctor Who in 1963. Her other credits include Minder, Quatermass, Jonathan Creek, Eldorado and BBC1 comedy Love Soup. She died on Thursday night after a long illness. She was due to receive a lifetime achievement award at next month's Women In Film And Television Awards.
