Bowled over by an Aussie personality; Music

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), April 4, 2008

BERNARD Carney is a laid-back entertainer with a heart of gold and a wry sense of humour.

His guitar is an extension of his personality - the songs that he writes and performs are easy to listen to and range from romantic ballads to humorous takes on our modern life. The Aussie performer can be seen in action at Shelley Village Hall on Saturday, April 26.

Carney is a popular and regular guest at Australia'smajor acoustic festivals and has performed with Ralph McTell, Richard Thompson and had the honour of opening Stephane Grappelli's final concert in Perth.

It's a return visit to Shelley after Carney played there two years ago.

Spokeswoman Ann Priestman says: "We were bowled over by his charmand personality - he is a man with nothing to prove but an enjoyment of life reflected through his music."

Tickets are pounds 6 available from Shelley Stores, the Post Office, Lydgate Styles or ring 01484 604486. There is a bar and full disabled facilities.
