Laugh with redneck Rich; Comedy

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Feb 8, 2008

GROUCHY, deadpan, comic genius, they're all words or phrases used to describe Rich Hall, who is playing live at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield on Sunday, March 16.

A master of absurdist irony while eschewing the human condition, he particularly likes to lay into Americans and life across the pond at every opportunity.

In 1998, Hall created the character Otis Lee Crenshaw, a redneck jailbird from Tennessee, who has been married seven times, all to a woman named Brenda.

A singer-songwriter, Otis writes bourbon-soaked, Tom Waitsian tunes and blends this with audience banter, producing a perfect fusion of music and comedy.

Since then, Otis Lee Crenshaw has been charming sell-out audiences each year at the Edinburgh Festival.

Hall's TV credits include QI on BBC 2, Have I Got News For You BBC 1, And in America. Rich Hall's Cattle Drive Show on BBC 4, Rich Hall's Election Special BBC4, Rich Hall's Fishing Show on BBC4 and The Letterman Show on CBS.

The performance starts at 7pm and tickets are pounds 14 (concessions pounds 11).
