I'd love to meet Michael Jackson; 5 MIN INTERVIEW
Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), July 26, 2008
KATE Gerbeau, nee Sanderson, 39, was born in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
She joined the BBC in 1997 to present Newsround and has also worked on Watchdog and the BBC's Breakfast show.
She lives in London and is married to the entrepreneur Pierre-Yves Gerbeau. They are expecting their first child.
Kate hosts five's new series, Wild Animal ER.
If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be?: Michael Jackson. I've got so many questions to ask him. He's the one person I'd really like to interview. My husband's actually met him. More than anything else, I want to see if the judgement of him is right and compare it for myself.
What is your biggest fear? Intruders. I can hear a drop of rain dripping onto some pebbles and think there's someone in my bedroom about to attack me.
Do you have any superstitions? I generally try to break them by testing them out, though I have to admit, I have consulted an online 'ask the oracle' for questions.
If you could only have one song on your iPod, what would it be? What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. It makes me happy and relaxed. It's the first song we danced to at our wedding.
What's the most expensive item you've ever bought, not including property or cars? A horse.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given? You only need to earn enough money to know that you don't need to worry about it.
When was the last time you cried and why? I cried during the filming of Wild Animal ER because I'd been attacked by a squirrel. I was in hysterical laughter. It jumped out of its cage and landed on my shoulder, so I was in shock. My response to any animal escaping on this series has been hysterical laughter, which is probably not the most professional thing to do, but I take it as being better than crying.
What is your indulgence? Reality TV when my husband's not watching.
How environmentally friendly are you? I'm doing my best. I've got a recycling bin in the kitchen where I try to make sure all the cardboard and paper goes in. And I have showers rather than baths.
How many texts do you send in a day? On average, 10.
Who's the most famous person in your mobile?: Piers Morgan.
What item could you not live without? My cover-up make-up.
If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? To be more patient and more relaxed about things.
Where are you going on holiday? We're going to go to Marrakech for a little break. It's not far away and you feel like you're a long way away when you're there.
It ticks all the boxes really.
What were you doing this time yesterday? I was catching up with PY on a golf course.
What will you be doing this time tomorrow?
I've got a day off so I'll be chilling, doing some admin and going for a horse ride.
