JACK HEWITT came out of retirement at the last minute to help Huddersfield Veterans score a third successive victory in the Inter-District League.
The Lindley Lib bowler stepped in when Roy Sutton was laid low by a knee injury and promptly chalked a 21-15 win as the home side beat Castleford 18-10 at Brockholes BC.
Gordon Cowgill, another late call-up from Lindley Lib to replace illness victim Bob Frith, also won his match 21-13.
With the away team also winning by the massive margin of 23-5 - in fact, they dropped just one game at Saville Park - the Perry's-sponsored side were left celebrating a 41-15 success.
They are next in action against Wakefield on Friday, June 13, with the home team playing at Meltham No2 and the away side going to Outwood WMC.
