Local briefs: Pensioner hurt

> A 70-YEAR-OLD man was badly hurt in a road accident at Aspley. The pedestrian was in collision with a Fiat Uno on Wakefield Road near its junction with Firth Street at 4pm on Friday. He suffered a broken right shoulder, a head injury and cuts and bruises. At first police feared his injuries could be life-threatening, but his condition improved after he was admitted to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
