Solar lobby win debate

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), May 28, 2008

MORE solar panels are coming to Huddersfield after a Government climb down.

Renewable energy targets will be part of Yorkshire's Regional Planning Strategy following lobbying by the Green Party.

Clr Andrew Cooper, who leads the group on Kirklees Council, said: "The Government has agreed that all new residential developments of more than 10 properties and all large non-residential developments will have to get 10% of their energy needs from on-site renewable sources."

Clr Cooper said: "The important thing now is to get the policy implemented."
