National briefs: Tough targets

EURO-MPS have backed tough climate change targets despite warnings from industry that Europe must dilute its ambitions because of the economic recession. The European Parliament's Environment Committee endorsed proposals to cut greenhouse gases by 20% by 2020, and by 30% if the rest of the developed world agrees to do the same.
