Sport briefs: Job for Weir

ATHLETICS: Double Commonwealth gold medalist and former British discus and hammer record holder Robert Weir has been appointed as heavy throws coach for UK Athletics. Weir, who competed at three Olympic Games, joins from Stanford University where he headed up the men's track and field programme for a number of years.
