Hepworth; Holme Valley

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Sept 20, 2008

It was 'all go' in Hepworth last weekend. On Friday night, film goers enjoyed Happy Go Lucky, a comedy about a school teacher. The village hall provided state-of-the-art sound and vision, bar facilities and ice creams at the interval for the evening's entertainment.

The village hall was busy again on Saturday morning when a Come for Coffee, Stay for Lunch event was held in the village hall. Between 10am and 2pm, customers enjoyed delicious food prepared by Stella Southam, Sheila Scholefield and Simon Cave.

On Sunday, parish Eucharist was celebrated by the Rev Keith Griffin at Hepworth Church. The reader was Cheryl Roberts, prayers were led by Simon Cave and the organist was Jane Robertson.

The whole village was a hive of activity on Sunday as hundreds of people flocked into Hepworth for the first ever village garage sale. Fifteen garages in the village, together with ten tables in the church grounds, sold hundreds of items at bargain prices. With refreshments being served in the village hall and with a percentage of sales going to church funds, it was a good day for both buyers and sellers.
