Letter: Mailbag - Pride in school uniform

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Sept 24, 2008

Byline: MRS VERITY CARDY

I ENJOYED reading "All our yesterday's" about Holme Valley Grammar School. My sister sent it to me as I now live in Aberdeen. I was at the schools from 1958-1962. The pictures were taken before I was there.

The school was in beautiful surroundings and was well run and strict. It had a very strict uniform policy. I remember the hats we girls had to wear. They were like stiff berets which stuck up on our heads. I was very proud of my uniform. It would be nice to hear from anyone I was at school with - for example, Rita Schofield, Stephanie Dransfield, Andrea Holloway, Andrea Credland etc. It would be nice to hear how their lives have progressed. We are all in our 60s now and probably grandparents.

I remember Mr Brain, but why no mention of Miss Saul out headmistress? It would be interesting if I hear from anyone. Miss Saul ran the orchestra.
