Debut is success for Molly

JUNIOR player Molly Holman-Sheard made her Huddersfield Badminton League debut for Holmbridge C and helped them to a 7-2 win over Fartown D in Division VI.
Holman-Sheard is one of many young players who attends coaching sessions at there cently - for med Huddersfield Eagles - which run on a Friday evening and Sunday morning at Newsome High School.
And she scored a point in the mixed with PhilGodin as they beat Fartown's Steve Williams and June Thomas 21-17, 21-8.
Holman-Sheard was involved in an exciting ladies third match as well when partnering Doreen Dewhirst, but they finished up losing 21-14 in the decider after responding to a 21-11 defeat with a 21-17 win.
The first mixed was also well contested, with Holmbridge's Mike Hall and Hilary Morgan defeatng Paul Lyn and Julie Williams 21-8 22-20.

Ladies - Hilary Morgan & Molly Holman-Sheard lost to JulieWilliams & Sally Turgoose 11-21, 17-21; Morgan & Doreen Dewhirst beat Williams & June Thomas 21 - 7, 2 1 - 9; Holman-Sheard & Dewhirst lost to Sally Turgoose & June Thomas 11-21, 21-17, 14-21.
Mixed - Hall & Morgan beat Paul Lyn & Julie Williams 21-8, 22-20; Bennell & Dewhirst beat Rowntree & Turgoose 21-10, 21-14; Godin & Holman-Sheard beat Williams & Thomas 21-17, 21-8.
Newcomers Royds Hall F put up a spirited display against their club E team.
But they ended up being beaten 8-1 in Division VI as the Huddersfield Badminton League got under way.
The F team's only winners were the ladies third pairing ofMerilyn Cato-Bedeau and Kathryn Brook, who took the first game 21-19 against Catherine Firth and Andrea Caffoor, lost the second to 17 but then rallied to win 21-13 in the decider.
Twice, however, E team pairings had to come from one game down to win.
In the first ladies game, Sheila Harding and Caffoor recovered from a 21-18 reversal to win 21-16 21-15, while in the second mixed John Rousell and Caffoor came back from a 21-16 defeat to beat Gilbert Pufal and Brook 21-10 21-9.

Ladies - Sheila Harding & Andrea Caffoor beat Eileen Kenny & Merilyn Cato-Bedeau 18-21, 21-16, 21-15; Harding & Catherine Firth beat Kenny & Kathryn Brook 21-17, 21-16; Caffoor & Firth lost to Cato-Bedeau & Brook 19-21, 21-17, 13-21.
Mixed - Holland & Harding beat Horton & Cato-Bedeau 23-21, 21-19; Rousell & Caffoor beat Pufal & Brook 16-21, 21-10, 21-9; Walter & Firth beat Cooper & Kenny 21- 8, 21- 18.
