The Olympic Torch relay was championed; HOLME VALLEY

HOLMFIRTH PE Staff assisted by the Pennine School Sport Partnership organised pupils from the school in several sporting events to celebrate the Olympic Torch being handed over to London for the 2012 Olympics.

Over 260 year 7 children took part in competitive events which included 50m and 100m relay races and some specially adapted events which included 'Obstacle,' 'Olympic ring' and 'Five continent' relay races carrying an 'Olympic flame.' A similar event was held at Royds Hall High School.

The Olympic Torch relay was championed by the Youth Sport Trust and the London Organising committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and was part of a national event held at the same time at many other schools across the country.
