Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Sept 27, 2008
Under 8
WESTEND made hay in the sunshine and with 46 goals scored, this obviously raised the spirits of the youngsters who are more used to wet and windy weather!
There were four wins out of five for the Lions as they took full honours.
James Wylde and Harun Townend combined well and both were on target against the Tigers as they romped into a 2-0 lead.
Tigers pulled a goal back but too little too late as the Lions held on to their lead.
However, in their second game, they came unstuck big time against the Leopards, who fired four goals past them.
But, they were back to winning ways against the Cougars, with Jake Morton popping up with two super goals.
The final game was against the Pumas and this proved a rare old battle, with both sides attacking at will.
Pumas were on target twice, but Morton was on hand with a first hat-trick to ensure victory for the Lions.
The Leopards team also put in a good morning's work as they managed to win three games and draw two.
There was some superb play from Nahum Hendricks, who scored four goals.
Cameron Rose got his name on the scoresheet by netting twice, as did Adil Arshad.
Cougars and Pumas both won two of their five games.
The majority of Cougars' goals came from Alex King who netted seven times. Danny Brooksbank and Hakan Dalbal added their names to the score sheet.
Pumas' scorers were Nikos Tokos (3) Thomas May (2) and one from Nathan Watts.
The Tigers scorers were Daniel May, Reuben Rai and Elliot Stokes. Danny Fawcett also scored twice for the Panthers.
