The trick is to raise cash for playground kit; Weekend People
Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Sept 29, 2008
A MAGICAL evening was held at Netherton Infant and Nursery School to help raise money for new playground equipment.
Children and their families were wowed by the magic show, which included some mesmerising tricks by a magician from Hull-based Mark's Magic Kingdom.
The evening of entertainment was organised to welcome all the new children to the school as well as well as raise money for new playground equipment.
It will cost pounds 10,000 to buy all the play equipment, which has been chosen by the children and includes a giant pirate ship.
The school is in desperate need of the playground activities and has already staged a number of fun-draising events to raise the cash, including an auction and a family gala.
Emma Rushworth, chair of the school's PTA, said: "The playground is very old-fashioned and there's nothing for children to play on at the moment - there's just a few markings for traditional games on the ground but we would like to make it a bit more exciting for them.
"They're really looking forward to their new playground and they've all helped choose all of the equipment.
"We've held a number of fundraisers to raise the money for it and the magic show is the latest. We've got to get another pounds 2,000, which we will hopefully have raised by Christmas."
