Friends buy recliners

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Sept 29, 2008

THE League of Friends at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary has provided six new reclining chairs for patients on the orthopaedic trauma wards.

The chairs cost pounds 500 each and are extra wide with extending leg support and provide extra comfort and support for patients.

The Friends' funds are raised from their tea bar profits, the annual Spring Fayre and donations.

Carol Armitage, chairman of the League of Friends, said: "We are always pleased to be able to buy the wards the extra facilities for the comfort of the patients"

The Friends have also recently bought two sofas for the new Huddersfield Family Birth Centre and children's books and games, along with paintings to decorate walls in the new isotope suite at HRI.

Ward 20 manager Debbie Wilton said: "We are very grateful to the League of Friends. The chairs are such an improvement. They look so much more comfortable and are deep enough that patients feel safe and comfortable."
