Alex impresses in Scotland

ALEX KEIGHLEY picked up pounds 500 for sixth place in the Glenmuir WPGA Professional championship at Dundonald Links in Scotland.

The Fixby assistant carded two rounds of 87 in an event lashed by fierce winds and won by Tracey Loveys, from Bigbury, whose ten over par 154 gave her victory by 13 strokes.

Allan Cranston, from Willow Valley, struggled to a three over par 76 in the North qualifying round of the Powerade PGA Assistants championship at Swinton Park whereLancastrain Grant Hamerton (Brookdale), a former European Tour player, fired a winning 67, two better than Alexander Wrigley (Hartlepool) and Adam Davison (Waterton Park, Wakefield).

HALIFAX, Huddersfield officials wielded the big stick at the Union Division II Scratch Team championship at Longley Park, applying the rules and imposing bans on Bradley Park and Marsden from competing in the event next season after their teams failed to turn up for the event.

Furthermore, the winner of the individual best gross prize, Nathan Scott (Crow Nest Park), and the winners of the second best gross team prize, Lightcliffe, forfeited their prizes for missing the presentation and not sending a representative.

Their vouchers are donated to the

Union's junior coaching fund.

Matthew Colcombe's 71 matched the low score of the day and he led Longley Park to a home victory by three shots from Lightcliffe.

The top four teams move on to the First Division event at Meltham on July 26.
