MEMBERS of Pole Moor Riding Club looked back on another successful year at their recent annual meeting at the Golcar Lily.

It was reported that it had been an eventful 12 months, despite the rain at some events held in an English summer to forget.

Many new members got into the saddle and many more events were planned for riders of all abilities and ages through the coming season - starting with a 'Fun Show for All' on Sunday April 26 at Bolster Moor. New members were always welcome.

The AGM was well attended and members and visitors enjoyed a pie and pea supper and tried their skills at a fun quiz.

Cheques were presented to the two charities that the club equally supported over the past 12 months and pounds 285 was given each to The Laura Crane Trust and

The Brooke Animal Hospital.

The presentation of trophies then took place for the summer points shows and other awards to members as follows: Points Jumping Trophies: Novice Jumping - Kim Bird riding Joe. Open Jumping - Annette Modena riding Barclay. Novelty Jumping - Leander Bucci riding Jade.

Points Equitation Trophies: Novice - Katie Turner riding Whisper. Open - Danni Thompson riding Nita. Pairs: Katie Turner riding Whisper with Charlie Holmes riding Blue Denim.

Points Gymkhana trophies: Under 30 - Charlie Holmes riding Eva. Over 30 - Annette Modena riding Barclay.

The Most Committed Member Trophy went to Sarah Morris.

The Most Improved Rider Trophy went to Jenny Turner.

The club held a Saturday Mad March Ride when a group of members set off for a "fantastic" ride featuring canters over moorland tracks and had a super splashing time in the river which the horses thoroughly enjoyed.

They stopped off for hot drinks and sandwiches and all agreed it was a really great day's ride.

There was an Easter Bonnet competition and gentle hack on Easter Sunday from Scapegoat Hill. This event was most suitable for young accompanied children, on pony, bike or foot.

CONTACT: Lots of fun events are planned for the summer.
