Honley three-game German tour; Businesses praised for generosity
Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), May 30, 2009
HONLEY JFC Under 15s flew to Germany on May Bank Holiday Monday (pictured top left) to play matches against Dillingen, SV Hasborn and JFG St Ingbert.
They will stay in Oberhambach, in Northern Germany.
Whilst not playing football, the boys will enjoy all the attractions that a German Center Parks has to offer.
To help towards the cost of the trip the boys have done several fund raising events which have raised over pounds 6000.
Club officials thank Sainsburys and Morrisons supermarkets for allowing them to do several bag packs as well as the following Honley businesses for contributing prizes towards a New Year's draw: Forrester's Arms, TD Hallas Insurance, The Cooperative, Taylors Food Store, Nisa Food Store, Gert's Florist, Lemon Tree Restaurant and the Canton Chef for an excellent Chinese night plus all the other prizes kindly donated. Andrew Morgan from the Ben Randall sports charity has also donated polo shirts for team members.
"Many thanks to all those who have helped with this trip," said Under 15 manager Rob Durrans..
GETTING SHIRTY: At the club's annual presentation day at the Galpharm Stadium last Saturday all Honley JFC players received a trophy in recognition of the contribution to the team throughout the season. Sam Higginbottom was voted as the Team's Players' Player, while Sam Nunn was awarded the Manager's Player of the Year Award.
