Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), May 6, 2009
Byline: DAVE HIMELFIELD
A SHIRT signed by James Bond stars and other celebrities will be auctioned for charity.
Lucky Graham Leslie was among the guests at the star-studded premiere of the latest Bond movie Quantum of Solace at the Odeon West End, London.
And on the night Mr Leslie, 62, from Honley, managed to get his dinner shirt signed by Bond girls Olga Kurylenko, who played Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace, and Grace Jones, who played May Day in 1985 Bond movie A View To A Kill.
Graham also managed to obtain signatures from Live Aid organiser Bob Geldof and England Rugby Team captain Lawrence Dallaglio and Barbara Broccoli, daughter of legendary James Bond producer Albert Broccoli.
Now he wants to help Huddersfield-based charities.
The shirt will go to highest bidder while all cash will be shared between the Laura Crane Trust, the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust and Pink Link's appeal for Huddersfield Royal Infirmary's Breast Cancer Clinic.
Mr Leslie said: "A friend of mine, Grace Plowman, was running the invite list for the British Foreign Legion.
"The red carpet was lined with soldiers injured in conflicts.
"Upon entering the party, there were photographers 10 deep photographing Olga and I very cheekily approached through the centre of the pack taking a photograph on my mobile as a memento and courteously asked her to sign my shirt.
"After the shock of my initial approach and once I had explained the reasons for my actions to raise funds for these charities, she willingly obliged.
"I would like to auction the shirt and divide the proceeds between these three deserving charities." Place bids to g.leslie@babywayint.co.uk The Laura Crane Trust funds research into cancers affecting young people and pays for care for young cancer patients.
The Forget Me Not Trust plans to build a children's respite centre and hospice at Brackenhall.
Netherton haulage company Pink Link has helped organise various fundraisers for charities, including the Everyman Campaign for testicular cancer, Kirkwood Hospice in Dalton, the Laura Crane Trust, the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust and the Dominic Rodgers Trust..
