I very much enjoyed the letter from the editor in the May/June 2009 issue of Bookmarks. I think there's a common assumption that when markets are tanking, people seek escape. As you point out, it's actually more about checking in. We're reminded that stories, which make up our lives, are all we really have, because no one--not even a Wall Street meltdown--can take them from us.
