Committee Actions

LaBudde, Paulson, and Wehling developed a proposal for revisions of Appendix X of the Official Methods of Analysis Program Manual. The proposed revisions to the guidelines for validation of quantitative and qualitative for microbiological methods were intended primarily to clarify the statistical procedures used in qualitative microbiological methods. McClure and Lee have written a paper for submission to J. AOAC Int. entitled "On Using a Normal Approximation for the Noncentral t-Distribution in Determining Upper Limits for Future Sample Relative Repeatability and Reproducibility Standard Deviations." LaBudde and Paulson have provided support for methods Committee L, Committee on Biological Threat Detection (DETECTION OR AGENTS?). Paulson completed a nonstandard validation design for validating sampling methods from surfaces. LaBudde has been advising the committee on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method validations, especially in the area of inclusivity and exclusivity testing.

Phillips contributed 2 critical method reviews for Committee G and has been advising the Expert Review Panel on pesticide residue methods in soft drinks.
