I'm fascinated by the drums. As a violinist, I try to use that drive and spirit in my own playing and soloing by making sure that rhythm comes first.
"Bow and Scrape" is one of the pieces I've written to explore those possibilities.
This piece offers violinists the chance to play with the precision and intensity of a rock/hip-hop drummer. The harmony is loosely based on a blues progression, and develops in seven measure sections.
