Ó Conaire, Pádhraic Óg (1893–1971), novelist and short-story writer. Born in Ros Muc, Connemara, and educated locally, he was one of Patrick Pearse's first pupils at St. Enda's. He joined the IRB [see IRA ] in 1913, spent twenty years as a travelling teacher for the Gaelic League , and worked for the Government Translation Service, 1931–58.

His well-crafted stories include Seóid ó'n Iarthar Órdha (1924), Ceol na nGiolcach (1939), and Déirc an Díomhaointis (1972).
