Ó Dónaill, Niall, (1908–1995), lexicographer and writer; born in the Donegal Gaeltacht , educated at St Eunan's College, Letterkenny, and UCD. He spent some years translating novels for An Gúm before becoming editor of Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla (1977) in 1959.

Apart from thirteen translations, he wrote a life of John Mitchel ( Beatha Sheáin Mistéil , 1937) and a historical account of life in the Rosses ( Na Glúnta Rosannacha , 1952).
