Ó Fiaich, Tomás
(1923–1990), scholar and Cardinal; born in Creggan, Co. Armagh, and educated at Maynooth. Ordained in 1948 he became Lecturer in History at Maynooth, 1953, then Professor in 1958, and President in 1974. He was made Archbishop of Armagh in 1977 and a Cardinal in 1979.
