Flexible food packaging to use more anti-microbials.(Supplier News)

By 2012, the total market for anti-microbials in plastic is expected to exceed 20,000 tons. A hefty portion of that will be flexible packaging, which is forecast to have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.7% between 2006 and 2012.

According to the market report by Pira International Ltd., "Most of the growth in flexible packaging comes from the rising use of anti-microbials in food packaging, and this is driven by consumer demand for well-presented, healthy foods that last longer."
