AAP Sports News (Australia) 05-11-2000 SPO: EU sports ministers debate bloc s anti drugs role LISBON, May 10 Reuters - Sports Ministers from the 15 European Union (EU) countries debated today what role the bloc should play in the new World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and how the EU should fund it but they postponed a final decision. Instead, the ministers said they wanted a working group set up to propose how EU member states should be represented on the agency, established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to carry out random drug tests and catch cheats. EU countries will have to decide whether the bloc as a whole should join the WADA -- which could allow EU budget money to provide some funding -- or whether governments will maintain separate...
