AAP Sports News (Australia) 11-01-2000 OLY: Romanian gymnast Raducan sues to clear name BUCHAREST, Oct 31 Reuters - Andreea Raducan, the Romanian gymnast stripped of a gold medal in Sydney for taking a banned substance, said today she would sue the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to clear her name. "I have decided to start legal proceedings because I'm innocent," Raducan told Reuters by telephone from the national Olympic centre at Deva, 350km west of Bucharest. "I need an official decision to recognise it," she added. Raducan, 16, was stripped of her all-round gymnastics gold after she was found to have taken the banned substance pseudo-ephedrine, contained in a cold remedy administered by the Romanian team's doctor.
