Soc: Socceroo slayers given little hope at World Cup
Uruguay's clinical disposal of the Socceroos has failed to raise expectations of improbable
glory for the South American team at next year's World Cup soccer finals.
Leading British bookmaker William Hill has rated Uruguay a 125-1 no-hoper after the
two-time winner was drawn overnight in Group A alongside reigning world and European champion
France, Senegal and Denmark.
Only Slovenia, the United States, first-timer China, Senegal, Costa Rica, Tunisia and
Saudi Arabia - all long shots rated anywhere between 150-1 and 300-1 - are given less
chance of winning the tournament being co-hosted by Japan and South Korea from May 31-June
30.
