SYDNEY, March 5 AAP - Olympic medallists James Tomkins and Drew Ginn stamped themselves as favourites in the men's coxless pair with a effortless showing at the Australian Rowing Championships today.

With three-time Olympian Tomkins now 36 and Ginn returning from a debilitating back injury which kept him out of the Sydney Games, the former world champion pair proved that age and injury has not wearied them.

"We tried to make it look easy," said Tomkins, who along with Ginn made up half of the 1996 Olympic gold medal-winning Oarsome Foursome.

"But there was plenty of effort under the water."
