00-00-0000 ROW: Ginn and Tomkins win pair

Former Oarsome Foursome rowers JAMES TOMKINS and DREW GINN have blitzed the men's coxless pair at the Australian championships, signalling their world title intentions.

The pair won the world crown in 1999 and today's win was a major step toward gaining national selection for the world rowing championships in Lucerne, Switzerland, in July.

Gold medal favourites in the women's pair, MONIQUE HEINKE and EMILY MARTIN, led home a class field which included seven members of last year's world champion eight crew.

Queensland sculler DUNCAN FREE won the men's single scull for the third successive year while West Australian AMBER BRADLEY claimed the women's event.
