1993: Joined Manchester United as trainee.

1994/95: Made United first team debut at 19.

1995/96: Became United regular, playing 33 games in league and FA Cup double-winning side.

1996/97: Scored from halfway line in opening day victory over Wimbledon. Made England debut in September 1997 World Cup qualifier against Moldova.

1997/98: Became fully established in England team but after scoring in World Cup against Colombia went home in disgrace after being sent off for kicking out at Argentinian midfielder...
