LUCERNE, Switzerland, July 14 AAP - Australians James Tomkins and Drew Ginn have won the men's pair at the rowing World Cup today.

The renowned Australian pair, formerly part of the Oarsome Foursome, crossed the line over a length clear of the current world champions James Cracknell and Matthew Pinsent of Great Britain with the Skelin brothers of Croatia in third place.

Tomkins and Ginn began slowly, being placed second-last at the 500 metre mark of the 2000 metre race.

They were able to claw back to third place at the 1000 metre mark.

With the pressure on the highly-favoured Australians, Tomkins with his huge 2-metre frame, and Ginn swept past the other crews...
