LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Aug 28 Reuters - Figure skating is not in danger of losing its place in the Winter Olympics despite a judging scandal at this year' s Salt Lake Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said today.

The IOC's ruling executive board made the decision at its first meeting since an alleged mob figure was arrested in Italy last month charged with trying to fix the skating in Salt Lake in February.

"The executive board firmly stated that figure skaing would remain on the programme of the Winter Games," IOC director general Francois Carrard told a news conference.
