MOSCOW, May 23 AFP - Moscow entered the battle to host the 2010 Olympics today joining favourites Paris, London and New York.

"We are ready for the toughest of competitions in the race for the right to host the Olympics," Moscow major Yury Luzhkov told a meeting of the Russian Olympic Committee.

"And we will do our best to win the race."

"Of course it's possible we will lose and that would not shame us as it will be a tough contest in the top league of the world's richest cities. But it definitely would be a shame not to take part in that contest."
