AAP Sports News (Australia) 05-18-2004 Soc: Anti-drugs chief seeks meeting with Blatter By Ossian Shine LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 18 Reuters - Anti-doping chief Dick Pound was today looking to set up urgent talks with FIFA president Sepp Blatter to head off a major rift in world sport. The Canadian head of the World Anti-Doping Agency is looking to reach an agreement with Blatter that would prevent soccer from being excluded from the Athens Olympics in August. Blatter said yesterday that FIFA would not sign up to the WADA anti-doping code, a move that would exclude soccer from the Games, because it is unhappy WADA is insisting on the right to appeal against any FIFA ban imposed for a doping offence.
