Box: Mayweather and de la Hoya fight becomes richest in histo
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, May 9 AFP - Floyd Mayweather's split decision over Oscar de la Hoya
on Saturday grossed $US120 million ($A145.2 million) making it the richest fight in history,
an American cable television network announced Wednesday.
The World Boxing Council super welterweight showdown in Las Vegas also attracted a
record 2.15 million pay-per-view buys in the US, the New York based-Home Box Office said.
The revenue from Saturday's superfight surpassed the previous record of $US112 million
($A135.52 million) from heavyweights Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis fight in 2002.
