AAP Sports News (Australia) 06-23-2009 Swim: FINA approves controversial swimsuits, for now PARIS, June 22 AAP/AFP - World swimming body FINA on Monday approved a list of swimsuits which have caused controversy in recent months for the apparent performance advantage they give in the water. But FINA said it may ban the suits for 2010 and it did not confirm world records set by French sprinters Frederic Bousquet and Alain Bernard who eclipsed times performed by Australian Eamonn Sullivan. Bernard was equipped with Arena's 'X-Glide', which is part-polyurethane, when he set a new 100m world record of 46.94sec at the French championships in Montpellier in April. FINA said in a statement that record was not recognised as his suit was "non-approved". ...
