Formula 1: Salo to retire at end of season.

Spa, Belgium (Sports Network) - Toyota Formula One driver Mika Salo will retire at the end of the 2002 racing season.

On Wednesday, after Toyota announced that it would not bring back current drivers Allan McNish or Salo, the Finnish driver made his decision.

"I have driven millions of kilometers in an F1 car," said Salo. "In a way it is a relief that it is over. The work with the new team has been enormous. I have had to take part in many other things in addition to driving.

Salo has scored the team's only two championship points this season, finishing sixth at Australia and Brazil.
