Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Danny Graves makes the first start of his career tonight, when the Cincinnati Reds take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in the middle contest of a three-game series at Cinergy Field.

Graves, who is second on the Reds' all-time list with 128 saves, is expected to be used for only a few innings. Manager Bob Boone wants to see Graves start a few games before the end of the season and, at the same time, determine if a viable second option exists to close games.

The righthander has appeared in 64 games in 2002 and 363 in his career without starting. Because Graves is 6-0 with a 1.35 earned run average in 23 lifetime appearances that have lasted three innings or more,...
