St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees will attempt to cut their magic number to just one this evening when they finish up their three- game set against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Tropicana Field.

The Yankees have won 11 of their last 15 games and lead Boston by 9 1/2 games in the division. The Red Sox lost to Cleveland on Wednesday. New York kept its hot play going with a 7-1 victory over Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Jeff Weaver pitched into the eighth inning in an emergency start to pace the Yankees to the win. Weaver (10-11) limited Tampa Bay to one run on six hits in 7 2/3 innings and improved to 4-3 since being acquired by the Yankees from Detroit. He walked one and struck...
