Scottsdale, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes announced Tuesday that former NHL All-Star defenseman Paul Coffey has joined the club in the capacity of "special teams consultant."

"Paul Coffey was one of the best defensemen to ever play the game," said vice president and general manager Michael Barnett. "He played with many of hockey's greatest players (Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman and Mark Messier) and for some of hockey's greatest coaches (Glen Sather, Scotty Bowman and Bob Johnson).
