NHL Hockey: Oilers' Salo earns NHL weekly honor.

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Edmonton Oilers goaltender Tommy Salo was named NHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 9.

Salo led the Oilers to three consecutive victories by posting a 1.01 goals- against average and a .961 save percentage. He returned to the lineup after missing two games with a groin injury and allowed one goal in each of his three starts.

Salo stopped 26 shots in a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on March 4, made 21 saves in a 2-1 win at Los Angeles on March 6 and turned aside 27 shots in a 4-1 triumph at Anaheim on March 7.
