San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - University of San Francisco head basketball coach Philip Matthews has been rewarded with a multi-year contact extension.
Mathews has a record of 122-109 in eight years with the Dons, including a 15-14 mark this past season. He led the school to an NCAA Tournament berth in 1998, the first for the Dons since 1982.
"Coach Mathews and I have the same goals," said athletic director Bill Hogan. "We want to finish as one of the top two teams in the league on a regular basis, and get to post-season play."
