 San  Juan,  Puerto Rico  (Sports Network)  - Eric  Valent's first major league 
 homer, a two-run shot, was the difference as the New York Mets knocked off the 
 Montreal  Expos, 4-1, in the rubber match of a three-game set at Hiram Bithorn 
 Stadium. 
 
 Valent, a first-inning injury replacement for Cliff Floyd, capped off a three- 
 run sixth that erased a one-run deficit for the Mets. Floyd left the game with 
 a right leg injury after attempting to leg out a slow roller to third base.
