RETAIL DISTRIBUTION CENTER BUYS SECURITY IN BULK...MAC Systems recently completed the installation of a state-of-the-art security system for BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. Within about a two-month timeframe, MAC Systems outfitted the entire 618,000 square-foot facility with the required security equipment ensuring BJ's project was completed on schedule. The distribution center is one of BJ's Wholesale Club's three regional facilities supporting a total of 172 clubs. Currently the Oxbridge facility supports 67 clubs throughout Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Ohio. This facility has the capability to support up to 86 clubs. The facility-situated on an 83 acre site, of which 42 acres are paved asphalt-contains 239 dock doors and 560 trailer parking spaces.

The majority of the shipments delivered to the BJ's facility are full truckloads containing stretch wrapped, palletized product. These pallets are received and shipped to the selling clubs within 24 hours. During this process there is the potential for damaged freight and concealed shortages from the manufacturer. The security systems installed by MAC Systems assists BJ's personnel in identifying and researching any manufacturer issues that may arise.

The entire facility is being monitored by a sophisticated security management system installed by MAC Systems. The system features the integration of Software House's C-CURE 800 card access system along with 239 Peleo CCTV cameras and an Integral Technologies DVR system.

Despite issues caused by an extremely aggressive timetable for all trades, MAC Systems was able to meet the project schedule by performing the majority of the installation in a two month window with a field crew of 10 technicians. For more information, visitwww.macsystemsinc.com.

STRUCTURED CABLING AS SEEN ON TV... ICC's Residential Structured Cabling Solution was installed in an Extreme Makeover Home Edition project to help the Machaceks, a separated family of seven, to live together under one roof. ICC products were selected as the connectivity infrastructure for the family's new custom home.

The EMHE project required having a complete end-to-end connectivity solution for the custom home. ICC's 42 inch Net.Media center was used to act as the home's central distribution point. It is designed to support all types of connectivity for voice, data, audio, video, and even fiber optics.

The 42 inch Net.Media center was custom configured with ICC's telephone module that is used to support up to 4 incoming lines with 8 extensions per line. To add an additional 8 extensions per telephone line, a telephone expansion module was also used in conjunction with the telephone module. To distribute high quality multi-line video throughout the home, two of ICC's 4- way video splitter modules were installed into the Net.Media center. ICC's new 1 input ? 4 output video amplifier was added to provide superior video signal quality to flat screen TV's making the Machacek family's viewing experience its best.

Since no residential structured cabling project is complete without high-speed internet access, ICC's Category Se component-rated data modules were configured into the Net.Media Center to provide high-speed gigabit data connectivity Two of ICC's data modules were installed. Each module supports up to 8 computers making 16 data connections available for home networking and Internet access.

ICC's wall outlet solutions were used to complete the installation in the living areas. ICC's integrated faceplates were selected because they have a onepiece construction, requiring no assembly, and they are easy to terminate and fast to install.
