Indexing is an easy strategy to follow when the market increases in double digits each year. But when the broad indexes fall, that simple strategy doesn't seem so smart.

So, advisors looking for a little extra return are turning to sector funds. Fund marketers feed the trend by focusing attention on their offerings in specific industries like energy, health care and telecommunications.
