Bayer files civil lawsuit against counterfeit drug compounders

SHAWNEE, KAN. -- Bayer HealthCare LLC's Animal Health Division has filed suit in U.S. district court against Tabor Home Medical Services and Kalchem International Inc., both of Lindsay, Okla., for alleged deceptive trade practices on Baytril 100 (enrofioxacin).
Bayer pointed out that it is the only Food & Drug Administration-approved manufacturer of Baytril Injectable Solution, and therefore is the only legitimate source of the product.
The civil action charges that Tabor and Kalchem knowingly purchased counterfeit enrofloxacin from illegal sources, manufactured unapproved material and misrepresented the quality of the antibiotic product to veterinarians, according to the announcement.
